| ~ Red Ribbon Week Activities ~
All elementary students (K-6th) will have the opportunity to sign a pledge to be drug free and add their “links” to our pledge chain, which will be hung from the ceiling in the elementary building. I will be passing out instructions on this activity to the teachers.
Mon. Oct. 26th - Don’t get tied up with drugs (wear a crazy tie).
·Red ribbons will be passed out to the students during their 2nd period class by their teachers
·Remind the students to NOT take the sticker/number off the back of each ribbon
·Remind the students to wear their ribbon everyday this week.
·I will announce a winning number from each class daily. If the student is wearing their ribbon they will win a prize.
·Teachers will also get a ribbon and will have a chance to win prizes, if they are wearing their ribbon.
Tues. Oct. 27th – Don’t let drugs hunt you down (wear camo)
Wed. Oct. 28th – Hats off to those who pledge to be drug free (wear a crazy hat).
·Officer Mike Stevens will be bring the drug dogs and giving a presentation to the junior high and high school students at 9:30 a.m.
·During lunch, the students will have the opportunity to wear the beer goggles while trying to navigate through a variety of obstacles.
Thurs. Oct. 29th – Proud to be drug free (wear a red shirt)
·Today the elementary (K-4th) will attend a puppet show in the cafeteria titled “Consequences” at 8:50 a.m.
·The fifth and sixth graders will attend a different puppet show in the cafeteria titled “Peer Pressure – Bad choices Lead to More Bad Choices” at 9:15 a.m.
·The seventh and eight graders will attend a skit in the cafeteria 9:40 a.m.
·The high school students will attend a skit in the cafeteria titled “Deadly Choices” at 10:05 a.m.
·All skits and puppet shows have been produced and will be performed by the high school theater department with special thanks to Ms. Shaw.
Fri. Oct. 30th – Scare off drugs (wear an appropriate Halloween t-shirt)
·Today, the high school will attend a Victims Impact Panel presentation from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 10:45 a.m. in the cafeteria.
·Approximately every 32 minutes someone is killed in an alcohol related car accident. A grim reaper (Zakree Thompson) will be randomly picking student names out of a hat to be victims of such an accident. If a student is pulled out of your class they will return wearing a black t-shirt and a sign around their necks explaining what happen to them. You may speak to them, but they are not allowed to talk to anyone for the rest of the day. By the end of the day we will have 15 student victims that have been killed by drunk drivers.
